Policies & Frequently Asked Questions

Cancellation - Late Arrival - No Show Policy

Regrettably, due to occurrences with late cancellations and no shows, we are required

to implement and strictly administer the late cancel policy.

**Our policy states that 24-hour advance notice is required for cancellation**

In the event of a no-show or cancellation with less than 24-hours notice, you will be subject to a rescheduling fee of $45.00  no exceptions. You will have the opportunity to re-book on your next session AFTER THE LATE CANCEL RESCHEDULING FEE HAS BEEN PAID.

Scheduling an appointment with us is your acceptance of this cancellation, no-show policies.

Late Arrival Policy :

While we understand that traffic may cause delays, we must respect the time of each of our clients and ensure that our sessions start and end on time. If you are late it is up to the therapist’s discretion to adjust your session time if possible and as needed.

Generally, if you are only a few minutes late, we can accommodate the schedule but please be aware the time you are late may be deducted from your session. If you are more than 15 minutes late your session will be canceled by the therapist, this would then fall under our no show late cancellation policy. Payment in full is expected for the time you reserved.

Scheduling an appointment with us is your acceptance of these late arrival policies.

Prenatal Policy:

*PLEASE NOTE* We do NOT perform prenatal massage on expectant mothers in the first trimester of their pregnancy. For the safety of the mother and child, the client must be over 3 months gestation to receive a massage. If you schedule before the end of your first trimester and fail to notify us and are turned away, our 24-hour cancellation policy applies.

Scheduling an appointment with us is your acceptance of these prenatal policies.

FAQ's

What do I wear during the massage?

Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session.

What do I do during a massage therapy treatment?

Prior to the massage, feel free to ask the practitioner any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). Otherwise, you may change your position at any time to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely. But others prefer to talk during a session. It's up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

How will a massage feel?

It usually depends on the techniques used. Many massage therapists use a form of Swedish massage as a foundation. In general, a Swedish massage may start with broad, flowing strokes (effleurage) that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, the pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. A light lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that the massage therapist can use another approach or technique.

How long will a massage treatment last?

The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back, or legs and feet. Many people prefer a 60- to 90-minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session.

How will I feel after the massage therapy treatment?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage. Massage therapists sometimes recommend a hot Epsom salt bath that encourages the release of toxins that may have been stirred up during the massage treatment.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?

The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with the sheet and blanket.

Will I be covered during the session?

You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?

Yes. It is imperative that, before you begin your session, the practitioner asks general health questions. It is also very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.

What’s the difference between light, medium, and deep pressure massage?

Light pressure is light, gentle stroking and smoothing which some people find very calming, but others become frustrated by the lack of stronger pressure.

Medium pressure is firm stroking to flush metabolic wastes from sore muscles. It does not include deep, focused work on chronic tightly contracted "knots”.

Always keep in mind that you are in charge during your massage session. Some of the work will feel very good, some of it may feel good and bad at the same time, but if it just feels bad, you will need to let the therapist know so they can adjust their pressure and technique. Feel free to ask your therapist about the particular technique you are receiving.

How often should I get a massage?

That really depends on what your goals are, and your budget. I recommend getting a massage at least once a month, as the effects are cumulative. I have many clients that come once a week and many that schedule every other week. All of them recognize the importance of self-care and the health benefits that they enjoy from receiving massage on a regular basis.
